The Thinker's Toolkit - Paperback
Analytic Prowess - Book Cover

Central Intelligence Agency

The entire Workshop was valuable.

You have taught me how to think, new ways to think, and how I need to focus and then turn that around and look at the other side.

When I first saw this class on the schedule, I groaned! Thinking all day! Boy, was I wrong. This was a great class.

The course was presented in a manner that ordered and illustrated techniques that are valuable and usable in day-to-day life/work. It was interesting to get an "inside look" at how our minds work.

Thanks for making what could have been a dull topic very interesting. The class was well organized and the instructors knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and enjoyable.

The energy and presentational skills of the course conductors were excellent. They kept the class engaged and looking forward to the next challenge.

The most valuable part of the Workshop was getting me to think of analysis as a structured process.

Dow Corning Carrollton

Stretched the mind on different methods of making decisions.

Provided a systematic way of making decisions and exploring alternatives and explains the process.

Gave a good foundation for decision making that applies to business.

Federal Reserve Board

The course is an excellent eye-opening experience. Provides analysts with real, workable tools that can be applied to look at problems and evaluate alternatives and make the best decision possible with the available information.

This is the first workshop I have attended that I actually feel like I learned something.

Class is conducted at a good pace. Presentation was excellent. Took the time to make sure class understood. Instructors work well together, keep it interesting, offer real-life examples and situations to make critical points. Course materials are excellent.

George Mason University/
Regional Executive Development Institute

Very thought-provoking!

Excellent work.

Reminded us of the value of making conscious decisions and knowing how we made them. Value of exploring alternatives rather than advocating the first solution that works.

International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions

Overall great course!

I liked the idea of considering all possibilities and especially the idea of "fixing" rather than just giving up. I'll definitely use this one.

MARS Corporation

Well presented! Good pace.

You did a good job of picking up "vibrations" from the group and changing the flow and speed of the course.

The tools are simple, easy to use, can provide valuable insights about biases, perspectives, etc. Examples of past uses were valuable. Discussion of cognitive limitations/biases provided a necessary framework for believing in the utility of the tools.

Presentation style, flexibility, and personalities were excellent.

Most valuable was the discussion about pitfalls in the way we make decisions, and the subconscious factors that affect them. We may know these things, but we do not put them together and are not conscious of them when we make decisions.

I enjoyed the presentation of these simple techniques, and I think I will change the way I make decisions. Above all I'll be aware of how I reach them.

National Drug Intelligence

A well presented course that flows throughout.

Well organized, well taught. Best part was realizing that we have to get over our "tunnel vision" when finding solutions to problems.

Of all the training classes I have attended, this is by far one of the best. The Workshop addressed issues that are key to what analysts here at NDIC should be doing as part of their normal analytical process.
